Item 8.01         Other Events.

            1. Announcement of Investment By CH Energy Group, Inc. Subsidiary,
Central Hudson Enterprises Corporation (CHEC). Registrant, on November 3, 2004,
issued a press release announcing CHEC's investment in a state of the art
Nebraska ethanol production facility. As described in the press release, CHEC
has committed to invest $10.7 million in a $78 million ethanol production plant
to be constructed in Lexington, Nebraska. CHEC's investment in the ethanol
production plant will consist of $2.7 million of equity and $8 million of
subordinated debt. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.
