NEW YORK, April 22, 2021 /3BL Media/ — WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, significantly expanded its water business leadership with the recruitment of water resource experts Alex Shannon and Juan H. Diaz-Carreras in the West, Atri Sen in Texas, and Steve Tarallo in the Capital area.

This group of hires reflects WSP’s continued commitment to growth and diversification of its national Water business, beginning with investment in critical leadership roles in target geographies.

Shannon is based in Seattle and Diaz-Carreras in Los Angeles, while Sen will operate out of WSP’s Houston office and Tarallo will lead the Capital Region from Baltimore.

Each will serve as district business water line leader in his respective geography, responsible for serving clients with the firm’s broad experience and technical expertise in water, wastewater and surface water solutions, and continuing to build WSP’s Water business.

“Juan, Alex, Atri and Steve are joining WSP at a time when our clients are looking for innovation and thought leadership to address a variety of challenges, from climate change to aging infrastructure to cybersecurity,” said Karen Block, WSP USA Water business line executive. “I’m pleased that with these additions, we not only expand our leadership team, but also expand our capabilities in capital program planning, utility management, and disaster recovery.”

Shannon brings a decade of diverse experience developing innovative and cost-effective water solutions for communities around the country. In his new role, he will continue to provide thought leadership in economic modeling, risk analysis, decision science, funding strategies and optimizing the implementation of utilities’ capital improvement programs.

Prior to WSP, Diaz-Carreras garnered extensive project management experience in consulting and working for a water district on Florida Everglades restoration projects, affording him a wide range of opportunities and expertise marrying water engineering and environmental protection. He lobbied congress with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and consulted with Native Americans on many sensitive issues.

Sen has more than two decades of experience in the infrastructure sector, where he has ranging expertise in national emergency management/disaster recovery, and the water and transportation markets. His local knowledge and experience in client relationship management, project delivery and operations will be invaluable to WSP’s successful partnership with Texas clients.

Tarallo brings 30 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry, with experience in process engineering, sustainable water/wastewater solutions, and advising on the connection between energy and water system infrastructures. His recent efforts have focused on helping utilities capitalize on products and processes that improve environmental sustainability while enhancing energy management and life cycle cost performance.

“This is a very exciting time for WSP USA,” Block said. “The company is deeply committed to building a best-in-class Water practice across the U.S. and the hiring of these four established leaders signals that commitment. We are better positioned than ever to provide our clients with the innovative, Future Ready™ solutions they need to manage our water resources and ensure quality and equitable water supply for all.”
