A Background in Academia

Before founding a company or even launching a career, Dr. Bush set about building her academic foundations. Initially, she earned a bachelor's degree in English with a secondary education teaching certificate in 1986 and a master's degree in English with a focus on American literature from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, in 1989. She later completed a PhD in English, specializing in American literature, autobiography and Mormon women's autobiography at Arizona State University in 2000.

Upon graduating in 1989, Dr. Bush went to work as a faculty member in the English department at Brigham Young University Idaho until 1994. In 2000, she joined Arizona State University as an instructional professional and subsequently served as a lecturer at the institution from 2005 to 2008. Following this, she was appointed manager of curriculum design and innovation at the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation. From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Bush served as communications director and content strategist for Highway Twenty.

Founding Peacock Proud Press

In 2012, Dr. Bush decided to enter the world of entrepreneurship by founding Peacock Proud LLC, now doing business as Peacock Proud Press. She recognized that her career as an educator was limiting her ability to grow, so, despite the benefits of her university position, she made the leap forward to start a business. Now offering publishing, ghostwriting, and editing services to her clients, Dr. Bush has built a team of professionals to realize the business's goals.

Dr. Bush's Creative Works

As an author herself, Dr. Bush has published many of her own creative works. These include, for example, "Faithful Transgressions in the American West: Six Twentieth-Century Mormon Women's Autobiographical Acts," with Utah State UP in 2004 and "Solitary Confinement: Managing Relational Angst in an Online Classroom" through the Modern Language Association in 2009.

For her contributions in business, education and authorship, Dr. Bush has received several awards and accolades. She is the recipient of many grants and has earned faculty fellow and faculty recognition awards from various organizations. Furthermore, she was an honorable mention in the short story category for Arizona Literary Magazine in 1990. Most recently, she was presented with the prestigious College Leader Award by the Arizona State University (ASU) College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
