Oscar’s Palm Springs Owner Dan Gore Nabs Two Major Honors

Oscar’s Palm Springs has earned recognition from two major organizations thanks to its enduring will to survive the COVID pandemic and its charitable work for the homeless. The desert’s leading restaurant/bar/live entertainment venue was one of six organizations in the region to receive a grant presented by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce with funding by Grubhub, the mega online food delivery business. All six recipients, who are members of the Desert Business Association (Coachella Valley’s LGBTQ chamber of commerce), will receive their grants at a special event taking place at Oscar’s on Monday, March 28 starting at 5 p.m.

Oscar’s also earned recognition from Bloom in the Desert Ministries for its annual feed the homeless that takes place on Christmas each year. The liberal Protestant church is a branch of the United Church of Christ whose mission is “striving to be Inclusive, open and affirming, and reconciling.”

“I am overwhelmed by the tremendous recognition offered by such prestigious organizations,” says Dan Gore, owner of Oscar’s Palm Springs. “We work hard to exceed the expectations of our guests who are tremendously loyal and supportive of us and the reason why we were able to survive the pandemic. And from the outset, I pledged that Oscar’s would do what we could to serve those less fortunate in our community. We expect nothing for our charitable work but the recognition from Bloom in the Desert was a much appreciated delight.”

Oscar’s Palm Springs is a restaurant/bar/venue situated in the center of the desert city. It is open for dinner nightly and lunch during the high season. It boasts an eclectic menu and full bar. It has gained a reputation for its Bitchiest Drag Brunch on Sundays and weekend Tea Dances that draw hundreds from the LGBTQIA+ community who enjoy dancing to vintage Disco music. On the more provocative side of Oscar’s entertainment lineup are Mimosa Men Saturday Brunches featuring professional male dancers who shed their clothing as guests enjoy a wide variety of dining options along with the popular Champagne beverage. It’s “An Intimate Evening With…” series that draws celebrities from yesteryear such as Dionne Warwick, the cast of “Knot’s Landing,” Frankie Avalon and Sandra Bernhard to the desert offers an alternative to the desert’s myriad entertainment options.
