No Baby Blisters, a Colorado Springs-based charity, announced its Hero Guardian Angel program to raise awareness of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and offer ways for the public to support affected children.

-- No Baby Blisters is expanding its public awareness and support initiatives through the Hero Guardian Angel program, creating more opportunities for community involvement. The program helps improve access to essential medical supplies for children born with EB and supports ongoing research into long-term treatment development.

EB affects approximately 500,000 people worldwide, yet as an orphan disease, it receives limited institutional funding compared to more widely known conditions. That funding gap has left many families grappling with overwhelming medical costs with little outside support. Founder Dr. Aaron Tabor, MD, said his work in genetic skin research revealed what he describes as a critical lack of coordinated aid. “I founded No Baby Blisters to support children affected by this rare condition,” he said. The organization was created to provide immediate assistance while increasing awareness of EB and supporting ongoing research efforts aimed at improving treatments and working toward the possibility of a cure.
Epidermolysis Bullosa is caused by a genetic mutation that weakens the structural bonds between skin layers, making even minor friction painful and dangerous. Children with severe forms often require daily wound care, specialized nutrition, and frequent hospital visits.
Donations received through the Hero Guardian Angel program are directed toward essential items such as advanced bandaging materials, antibiotics, pain management medication, and emergency medical interventions. “We are committed to helping families maintain consistent access to essential medical supplies,” Tabor said.
The charity notes that consistent monthly giving plays a key role in stabilizing care for families facing round-the-clock medical demands. Supporters can participate at various levels, including contributions as low as a few dollars per month, with funds allocated toward both direct patient assistance and scientific research initiatives.
Beyond immediate support, No Baby Blisters is pursuing what it describes as an accelerated research initiative, a multimodal strategy aimed at addressing EB at the systemic level. The initiative includes gene-based therapeutic research designed to correct defective skin proteins, broader treatment models intended to target the full body and not just isolated symptoms, and molecular approaches focused on reducing inflammation and improving wound recovery.
Tabor, an NIH-funded skin researcher and founder of GenieXO, said sustained public involvement is essential to accelerating progress. “Right now, rare disease children are suffering in critical condition with little help,” he said. “We believe they deserve both urgent care and real scientific solutions.”
