London X City Reports On Jose Mourinho's "Borrowed Time" After Two Losses

London, England based digital lifestyle magazine London X City has recently published a new article on Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and whether or not he is living on "borrowed time" after losing two of the club's first four games of the start of the Premier League season.

Chloe from London X City says, "When Mourinho was brought on in 2016, the expectations from United fans were very high. To lose two games straight away that early in the season to Brighton and Tottenham in consecutive matches has many fans worried, and many experts think he could be under enormous pressure this season."

London X City cites an interview with Sky New host Sarah-Jane Mee and former United winger Ryan Giggs, where Giggs commented on Mourinho's future after such a rough start. Giggs said that the pressure after losing two consecutive matches is quite normal, even for such a storied club like United. He notes that even though the start may have felt slow, it does not indicate that Mourinho could be in trouble. "International breaks might come at a good time," Giggs told Mee in the interview.

Despite what the experts may be saying, the magazine says, the club is making moves that some are saying could indicate trouble within the club. London X City reports that United's Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward has announced that he was going to appoint a Director of Football, a position that had never existed in the club's 140-year history.

The creation of the position was said to be in order to stabilize the relationship between Woodward and Mourinho, though many of the high-ranking staff in the club think it will lessen Mourinho's power, especially with a title change from "Manager" to "Head Coach". Other commentators say that a Director of Football would help to set a more consistent attitude and play among the team.

The past summer saw a number of transfers asked for by Mourinho get vetoed by the club's board, and spending plummeted from 140.9 million pounds in 2017 to only 73.2 million pounds in the summer of 2018. The club had set themselves on gaining five fresh players and only landed Lee Grant, Fred and Diogo Dalot. Insiders say that the disappointing transfer season only worsened the relationship between Mourinho and Woodward.

At www.londonxcity.com, the magazine writes, "Missed target players, Bale and Willian chose to stay in their respective clubs. [Meanwhile] the rumour about former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar's comeback was denied by Van Der Sar and [he] affirmed his decision to stay longer with Ajax. [...] The pressure in the Premier League also builds up with the absence of the Man UTD star Luke Shaw, who suffered a horrific injury during their match against Spain. The Manchester United defender suffered a concussion when he went for a header with Spain's Defender Dani Carvajal, where Shaw's head collided with Carvajal's elbow."

Chloe at London X City agrees that the combination of the losses, the wish of Woodward to appoint a Director of Football, as well as a poor summer transfer window puts all eyes on Mourinho. "Certainly all of these events happening in the same year, even within months of each other, is not a good outlook for Mourinho. He has always said that he wanted to manage his teams like an English club, but not being able to pick up high-profile players at one of the best clubs in the world may end up his undoing."

Football is not the only sport that London X City covers on its site. Golf, motorsports, MMA, and more are represented. Even North American sports such as Major League Baseball, the NFL, NBA, and NHL are also covered within the pages of the online magazine. Most recently, the magazine covered the surprising and explosive loss of Serena Williams to Naomi Osaka in the finals of the U.S. Open tennis final. The highly anticipated match escalated when, after Williams was giving a warning that she was being coached, asked for an apology from chair umpire Carlos Ramos. After breaking her racket in frustration, a point was deducted, which caused Williams to call Ramos a "thief", whereupon an entire game was taken away. Osaka won the match 6-2, 6-4.

Chloe says, "We cover just about everything from sport, to health and wellness topics, celeb and TV show news, beauty and fashion, and so much more. Those who want to read more about everything from a London perspective are invited to visit to read more on our site."
