Nadia Hursky, a representative of the company, says, "The design brief was challenging, as the spatial configuration was small, had odd angles, and plumbing details that could not be adjusted. The client wanted a sophisticated and airy beach vibe that had a timeless appeal. They were also working on a tight budget."

The most budget-friendly appliances from a well known appliance company were chosen to fill its spaces, leaving some more room to spend in other areas. The team also decided to implement the least expensive standard stone colour, which was designed by Talostone, as well as a tile splashback design to match. This was one of the most crucial aspects where they managed to cut expenses to fit the budget.

The main priority was to find out which areas would be the best to save funds in, without compromising the final look of the project. After all of the budget decisions were taken care of, the team had yet to face one of the most challenging stages of the project. The kitchen had a difficult layout, forcing the design team to deal with difficult sharp angles and very limited room. “A curved island softened the space, while also opening up the entire layout,” said the team’s lead project designer. They asserted that, thanks to the opening created by the small island, the team was able to spatially integrate the living room, thereby including the kitchen as a feature.
The design team wanted to add texture and depth to the kitchen; the kitchen island became the tactile feature of the space "The subtle texture on the island is tactile and creates contrast.” Further depth was added by building a profile on the cabinetry doors “A 20mm profile on the cabinetry door added further depth and interest to the design,” said the lead designer.
