I was texting back and forth with my son Max about stress this morning this as he gets ready for a big year and has some summer school finals right now.
I luckily have been there and done that so I try and pass on those exact feelings I shared.
I am a PRO at stress and anxiety, both having it and causing it.
Life is difficult. Full stop. Scott Peck said it in ‘The Road Less Travelled’ and it is something that I tell my kids all the time:
“Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult-once we truly understand and accept it-then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.”
I think ‘serenity now’ might work even better than ‘life is difficult’. They mean the same thing in my opinion. One is philosophy and one is coping.
This best of ‘serenity now‘ always makes me laugh.
I have ‘serenity now’ moments daily.
Turning daily discomforts into serenity now moments is just something I have chosen to do. I consider myself lucky to be able to do this.
