Intending Political Science Major Abhinav Reddy has Developed a Platform that Allows Americans to Submit Political Proposals to the Representatives

ProposeNow by Abhinav Reddy makes it easy for Americans to send political policy proposals to the relevant politicians increasing political participation and inclusion in the United States

United States - October 26, 2022

Political awareness and civic education in the United States has reached all-time lows. A democratic institution, such as the United States, requires an informed electorate to vote for competent leaders and understand the country's political system. At the very cornerstone of that principle is a rigorous civic education available to all students that emphasizes the importance of democracy. Unfortunately, over the last century, the American civic education system has failed.

Motivated by a desire to restore political participation in the United States, Abhinav Reddy—a prospective student of Political Science—is developing tech-based solutions. Abhinav wants to ensure that Americans are well-informed on their role in politics and how they should exercise it for the development of the nation. Today, Abhinav is pleased to announce the launch of ProposeNow, a web-based application that empowers Americans to create and pass policy proposals through municipal, state, and federal systems.

“I am happy to share my innovation with Americans,” explained an enthused Abhinav Reddy. “Proposal App crowdsources public policy proposals to empower communities to pass proposals through municipal, state, and federal systems and bolster civic participation in politics and legislation. It serves a similar purpose to constituents as GitHub to programmers in allowing people to select different drafts and modify them for their purposes. Americans will find this web-based app handy in expressing their thoughts about viable policies for their constituents.”

With ProposeNow designed by Abhinav Reddy, users will create policies for different aspects of nation building including medicine, education, transportation, military, media, and so on. Every state in the United States is covered in the Proposal App as the app is suited to meet the needs of every American regardless of the state they are in.

According to a Pew Research Center poll, only 30 percent of Americans believe living in a democracy is essential. Meanwhile, the same survey found that only 20 percent trusted the government in Washington most of the time. In 2011, 24 percent of U.S. millennials considered democracy a bad way of running the government. Fast forward to 2017, 35 percent of millennials said they were losing faith in American democracy. Additionally, even with an increase to 66 percent voter turnout in the 2020 presidential election, the United States still lags behind other developed democracies.

Abhinav is committed to providing Americans with political information that will solidify the trust between constituents and representatives. The Proposal App is a step in that direction as it ensures Americans can send in draft copies of proposed policies to the relevant authorities in government. Abhinav is currently working with admission officers as he looks forward to securing admission into any of the prestigious universities to study and get a degree in political science.
