Apparel company Zentek Clothing has adapted PCM technology into a new line of boot insole products.

These new insoles provide insulation and protection against cold weather by making use of Zentek Clothing’s phase-change material inserts. Zentek’s new insoles have been created specifically to help search and rescue groups navigate harsh conditions without suffering frostbite or other cold-related injuries. However, the standard of quality with which they are made makes them an ideal solution for cold-weather hikers and those who enjoy outdoor winter sports as well.
Like many of the other products released by the company, this line has been created to help the wearer adjust to the effects of climate change. As local climates continue to vary more erratically and unpredictably, Zentek has pledged to help people and animals alike by creating adaptive clothing that can insulate or cool depending on the ambient environment.
PCMs were originally designed by NASA to withstand the extreme conditions that astronauts may be subjected to in the upper atmosphere. They function dynamically and will take the form of an insulating solid when the surrounding air is cool, or a heat-diffusing liquid when in a warmer environment.
