Ward Committee Members Get Tools For Life Skills To Improve Service Delivery In Their Communities

Recently, over 150 Ward Committee members from the Emfuleni Local Municipality in Gauteng graduated from a life skill, leadership and community development training programme called the Tools for Life

Gauteng, South Africa - July 6, 2023

Recently, over 150 Ward Committee members from the Emfuleni Local Municipality in Gauteng graduated from a life skill, leadership and community development training programme called the Tools for Life, delivered by the Scientology Volunteer Ministers at the Castle Kyalami, in order to improve efficiency and community responsibility.

In an effort to capacitate Ward Committees and improve service delivery in the wards, the Emfuleni Speaker of Council, Cllr. Sibongile Soxuza entered what she calls a “lifelong partnership” with the Scientology Volunteer Ministers. As the first action Cllr. Soxuza got 350 Ward Committee members trained in the programme of which 150 now graduated, while the graduation for the remaining Ward Committee members is imminent.

Deeply worried by the homicide rate, domestic abuse, drug abuse, poverty, crime and many other social issues, Ms. Soxuza decided to act by empowering her constituency with effective skills that have been yielding fascinating results. In her Search for solutions, she came across the well-known Community Development and disaster response organization of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, who were more than happy to lend a hand in the improving of efficiency in the service delivery sector.

“Real community development begins with real empowerment, you first have to equip the people with the right skills that they can use to bring relief to themselves and others. We do this because we believe in a unified and empowered community that is prospering,” said Sandile Hlayisi of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.

Extremely eager to tackle conditions they faced in the community, the ward councillors dedicated their time and efforts to empowering themselves with the Tools for Life from L. Ron Hubbard so they could better assist and improve their communities. Finally meeting all the requirements, now they came for the graduation and were extremely proud to be officially graduating this life changing training.

Mr. Tefo Molakeng, Chief Ward Committee Coordinator for the municipality who organized the training in collaboration with the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Africa team was positive on the outcome of the initiative saying, “This training has given us a lot of ideas as to how to approach different issues, such as resolving conflicts in the community. The Ward Committee members are now going to be able to approach different types of community members and resolve challenges in the community, making the lives of our community better.”

After the graduation the Ward Committee members are now looking forward to implementing the skills they gained in their work on the ground.
