Lisbon, Portugal, January 22, 2004 Portugal Telecom, SGPS, S.A. (NYSE: PT; Euronext: PTCO.IN) today announced that it has reallocated certain operational responsibilities within its Executive Committee. As a result of these changes, Mr. Miguel Horta e Costa, in addition to his role as Group CEO, has also taken on direct responsibility for PTs Wireline Business. Mr. Zeinal Bava and Mr. Iriarte Esteves, in addition to their current roles, will also be appointed Executive Board members of the Wireline business. Mr. Bava and Mr. Esteves will be responsible for the SoHo/residential and corporate segments of the wireline business respectively. Mr. Carlos Vasconcellos Cruz, will now supervise all of PTs International Businesses focusing primarily on Vivo in Brazil.
