WINNIPEG, MB: Quik-Therm Insulation in Winnipeg recently completed the first official installation of its Interior Masonry Insulation System (IMIS), which enhances the thermal performance of buildings with masonry walls by insulating their interior surfaces.

IMIS (Patent Pending) is one of Quik-Therm’s most recently developed insulation solutions. Specifically engineered to enhance the thermal performance of buildings with masonry walls, it is ideal for any interior block or concrete wall. IMIS’s two reflective air spaces add approximately R-12 to the system’s effective R-Value (a certified laboratory tested a similar prototype system to ASTM C1363 and it achieved R-27.88). The system installs faster, performs better, and costs less than other conventional masonry insulation systems.
Quick and simple to install, IMIS is fastened directly to masonry walls through built-in furring (Quik-Therm’s installation team pre-drills 2” QT Connect and fastens the panels using U2 fasteners). Next, the system is pinned together by pushing screws into the foam, furring strips, and panels. Finally, the system is sealed with a framing nailer, rendering it ready for drywall.
“We installed 60 linear feet in 5 hours, including roughed-in electrical,” said Ted Cullen, president of Quik-Therm. “We encountered minor issues, but that was expected, considering this was our first install. The next install will be 20% faster.”
