Vlisco, the iconic Dutch textile brand with over a century of influence in African fashion, presents “MAYANGA”, the latest music video from Congolese superstar Fally Ipupa. Produced by Vlisco, this project is an extension of the brand’s ongoing celebration of fashion, creativity and cultural storytelling.
Launched on March 18th in celebration of Women’s Month, Vlisco’s latest campaign, “The Garden of Sisterhood”, is inspired by the song “MAYANGA” and the beauty that emerges when women come together - each one unique yet bound by an unspoken connection. This collection brings to life intricate floral motifs and soft colour palettes that celebrate the strength and individuality that blossoms through community.
Filmed in Ivory Coast, “MAYANGA” expands the vision of Vlisco’s “The Garden of Sisterhood” campaign, uniting music and fashion in a poetic tribute of self-expression, cultural pride, and unity.
A voice that transcends borders, Fally Ipupa brings his signature combination of soulful rumba and contemporary sound, crafting an anthem for the Vlisco Woman. In collaboration with renowned Ivorian fashion designer Loza Maleombho and Nigerian director and multidisciplinary artist Daniel Obasi, “MAYANGA” embodies the spirit of community, illustrating how collective spaces - physical, emotional, and symbolic - empower women to thrive. From Maleombho’s generation-spanning silhouettes to Obasi’s striking storytelling and Ipupa’s musical artistry, every element of the music video represents the essence of “The Garden of Sisterhood”.
“Collaborating with Vlisco has been a beautiful experience. They understood my vision of working with talented artists and honoring the beautiful women who wear Vlisco fabrics. By creating exclusive designs for me and for the remarkable women in the cast, Vlisco really brought our artistic vision to life, harmoniously fusing music and fashion.” – Fally Ipupa
‘’It’s been an honor to collaborate with Fally Ipupa and the creative team behind the ‘Garden of Sisterhood’ campaign. His song ‘MAYANGA’ perfectly reflects our admiration for the women who shaped us, inspire us, and mean so much to us. For us, it’s not just about fashion; it’s about the stories told through our beautiful prints. And I believe the best stories are always told together.’’ – Marlou van Engelen, Creative Director
The collection is now available in select stores and online at vlisco.com.
