Charity organization Give A Roof has published an announcement regarding their plans for 2025 and beyond.
-- The new announcement addresses the challenges that Give A Roof may face in the next 4 years, while also expressing hope of progress under the incoming administration. Specifically, organizers hope to work with the soon-to-be-established Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to address long-standing roadblocks preventing further humanitarian work.

This declaration arrives during a period when the primary obstacle to aid initiatives is found within bureaucratic processes. Government policy affects not only the types of projects that can be undertaken to provide food and shelter to the homeless but also the free movement of unhoused individuals in general.
Elon Musk’s DOGE, however, has expressed an interest in eliminating many of the bodies responsible for regulating these projects. While many have expressed some degree of alarm over this potential upheaval of the regulatory landscape, Give A Roof has stated that they intend to take advantage of this freedom with the aim of ending homelessness permanently.
As an organization, Give A Roof targets homelessness and food insecurity by allowing individuals to donate unused airline miles or hotel points, which are then converted into funds that go toward providing shelter for the unhoused. They are partnered with many of the largest hotel chains and airlines in the world to make this exchange possible.
They are currently funding projects across the US and internationally in partnership with locally-focused organizations such as Handmade With Love and Donation For Kids. These organizations assist Give A Roof in finding individuals in need who are otherwise unable to secure reliable access to shelter.
The Give A Roof project was launched by Silicon Valley local and Cupertino City Council candidate Claudio Bono. In early 2024, he sought out partnerships with corporate and political players to build the foundations of the Give A Roof program - an initiative that has been, in large part, successful.
Now, as 2024 draws to a close, he and his team have stated that they are optimistic about the prospects of working with the incoming administration to grow the Give A Roof program. They are currently seeking donations and volunteers; more information can be found at the link below.
