Stellar Dragon Games have published a new guide explaining how to build a Scout class character in D&D 3.5e.

-- More than any other edition of Dungeons & Dragons, 3.5 edition offers an expansive suite of buildcrafting tools and flexible character systems. To help players both new and old master these systems and create the best Scout character possible, Stellar Dragon Games is offering their expertise in the form of a new guide.
The guide is available at https://stellardragongames.com/dnd-3-5-scout-5-adaptable-builds/
In the guide, veteran DM and long-time 3.5e player Andrew Wilson offers 5 fully realized Scout character builds. Those interested in playing a Scout in 3.5e can either use these templates as the basis for an original build or simply use the character sheets as-is to begin a quick-start campaign.
As Stellar Dragon Games explains, the Scout class in 3.5e offers a high degree of versatility, perhaps more so than any other class. The class brings together high movement speed and stealth capabilities to offer significant combat bonuses to those who can adopt a flexible, tactical playstyle.
Wilson showcases the high damage potential of the class in the first of his 5 templates, which he calls the “Insectoid Warrior”. This build, a Thri-Kreen swordsman, uses the natural advantages offered by the insectoid race - namely their many arms and psionic affinity - to maximize the Scout’s damage output in a way that some might consider “overpowered”.
The “Master Hunter” build, on the other hand, relies on the ranged damage potential offered by the Scout class. The character wields a greatbow, which offers bonuses to both range and potential damage dealt, while also taking advantage of the Scout class’ speed-based movement abilities to avoid attacks at close range.
The other 3 builds showcased in the guide all take advantage of the skirmish tactics that the Scout class is known for, although they apply these in varied and inventive ways. Overall, these characters are intended as capable 1-on-1 fighters who can also support their parties at range or in melee combat.
Those interested in learning more about the deep, rewarding buildcraft systems available in D&D 3.5e should consult the Stellar Dragon Games website. Their expert team has compiled dozens of class-specific guides, and they invite anyone looking to join a community of dedicated 3.5e players to reach out on Discord.
