Middlebury Dining Services Implements Agilysys Solution Suite to Improve Operations and Enhance Efficiency

Agilysys, Inc. (Nasdaq:AGYS), a leading global provider of next-generation hospitality software solutions and services, today announced that dining services at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., has selected a suite of Agilysys solutions ─ including InfoGenesis® POS, Eatec® inventory and procurement and rGuest® Pay payment gateway ─ to enhance efficiency and streamline foodservice operations.

Middlebury Dining Services supports three dining halls, a snack bar and several retail dining operations, including an off-campus table service restaurant. In addition, the college's dining services staff provides catering for a wide range of campus and private functions as well as meals for the Middlebury Language Schools and Bread Loaf Writers' Conferences. The college's foodservice management teams needed a comprehensive solution suite that would enable them to conserve resources, reduce potential losses and provide more efficient service to their customers.

"Agilysys solutions have the features and functionality that will enable us to modernize our entire operation," said Dan Detora, executive director of food service operations at Middlebury College. "InfoGenesis POS, combined with rGuest Pay, will help ensure optimum productivity and secure payment processing, as well as support our future adoption of mobile payment. In addition, Eatec is the ideal inventory and procurement solution for us, with interfaces to our largest vendors and support for handheld devices that will allow us to receive deliveries and conduct inventory counts quickly and easily. Together, the Agilysys solutions offer the total package we need to optimize efficiency and strengthen our dining services operation."

Middlebury College is using the following Agilysys software solutions:

  • InfoGenesis POS ─ a comprehensive point-of-sale system that combines an easy-to-use terminal and tablet touchscreen application with industry-leading offline capabilities. Designed for multi-unit and complex operations, InfoGenesis features real-time reporting, support for packages and prix fixe menus, and multi-language capabilities that drive service flexibility and increase operational efficiency. The system easily manages any combination of food, beverage and retail services and integrates with both other Agilysys next-generation solutions and a wide variety of third-party providers.
  • Eatec ─ a full-featured inventory, procurement and production system designed specifically for the hospitality and foodservice industries. Along with its core purchasing, inventory, recipe, forecasting, production and sales analysis functions, the software also offers modules for catering, cycle planning, retail management, nutrition and allergens. The modular structure allows customers to construct the exact set of features they need — whether it is an enterprise-wide solution for multiple sites or a single-site system for multiple functions.
  • rGuest Pay ─ a payment gateway solution that enables complete and secure payment processing. rGuest Pay provides one of the only payment solutions that includes: validated Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE), which reduces the potential for malicious hacking and fraud; a Payment Information Proxy (PIP) that secures data arriving via e-commerce interfaces; robust tokenization, which eliminates storage of cardholder data; and a full range of fixed and mobile EMV-ready payment devices that ensure compliance with new card security regulations.

"Today's diverse campus dining operations require flexible and powerful technology," said Jim Walker, vice president of sales and marketing at Agilysys. "InfoGenesis, Eatec and rGuest Pay are robust and reliable, with a proven track record of success. Their combined power will help Middlebury Dining Services conserve resources, reduce potential losses and provide more streamlined service to students, faculty and guests."

Middlebury Dining Services is committed to culinary excellence and social responsibility. Its dining program features a variety of seasonal menu items, ethnic specialties and healthy food options, such as gluten-free and trans fat-free products. It also supports local food systems, with more than 30 percent of its budget spent locally at 50 year-long and seasonal vendors, including the college's own organic farm. Middlebury Dining Services includes three dining halls, retail operations such as The Grille, Wilson Café, 51 Main and the Snow Bowl snack bar, and full-service catering for campus functions and private events.
