Carly Hysell of Garmin® recognized as a “Woman Making Waves” in 2020 by Boating Industry Magazine

Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), is proud to announce that Carly Hysell, Garmin public and media relations manager, has been selected as one of Boating Industry magazine’s “Women Making Waves” for 2020. This recognition is presented annually to 25 women in the marine industry who make large contributions to the industry’s success, propel its growth and lead their organizations and peers into the future.

“Since beginning her career at Garmin, Carly has been a consummate leader for our company. Her passion and dedication for the marine market is evident every day, whether she is working at Garmin headquarters or remotely on the water,” said Cliff Pemble, Garmin president and CEO. “Her expertise as a public and media relations professional has not only helped Garmin become a leader in the marine market but across all of Garmin’s market segments. Speaking on behalf of everyone at Garmin, I would like to congratulate Carly and all of the Women Making Waves in 2020 on this well-deserved achievement.”

During her tenure at Garmin, Hysell has and continues to lead Garmin in corporate, public and media relations across its five business segments. Her knowledge of the marine industry has helped Garmin launch award-winning products such as Panoptix Livescope™ and the Force™ trolling motor.

“It’s an honor to be recognized alongside so many inspiring stand-out women in the industry,” said Hysell. “My thanks to Boating Industry for creating a program that celebrates the contributions and accomplishments of so many, and to Garmin, whose commitment to its people and products makes it possible to do what I love every day.”

A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Hysell inherited her love of fishing and the water from her father and grandfather while growing up in Minnesota. She began her career at Garmin during her senior year at Kansas State University as a public and media relations intern. Immediately following graduation, Hysell joined the Garmin team as a communications specialist with an emphasis on its marine markets. As a marine professional, she has become a respected member of the industry through her support and participation in various industry media events, fishing tournaments and tradeshows.

“When I first met Carly, I knew she was a keeper from the beginning and that she would go far. Garmin is lucky to have her,” said Bill Dance, professional angler. “I always knew she was a little ripple that would create a big wave.”

In 2014, Hysell became Garmin’s public and media relations manager. Since this time, she has grown this team to an eight-member department which manages Garmin’s public and media communications.

“The Garmin public and media relations team would like to offer Carly a special ‘Congratulations!’ We appreciate her guidance and leadership both as a manager and friend, and we can think of no one more deserving of this recognition than Carly,” said Mary Woodbury, Garmin senior public relations specialist, speaking on behalf of the Garmin public and media relations team members.
