Educated in India, Dr. Phillips graduated from Stanley Medical College at a very young age. She started her pediatric career in 1982, having received her diploma in child health in India. 

Thereafter, she migrated to the United States and worked in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia in general pediatrics and emergency medicine. She specialized in pediatric infectious diseases from the Children's Hospital at Montefiore and, after a decade in infectious disease, decided to move to the warmer weather of New Mexico. Dr. Phillips is currently working towards certification in childhood obesity. 

A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and a member of the Royal College of Pediatricians in England, Dr. Phillips is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement. 

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatric infectious diseases specialists treat a wide range of infectious and immunologic diseases such as those caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.
