His Edward Neuroscience Institute practice, affiliated with Edward Hospital, includes general neurological surgery. Dr. Caron is board-certified through the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). A Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, he is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011) and Patients' Choice Award (2011, 2018).

Dr. Caron graduated from Loyola University of Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine in 1982, serving as class President. He completed a general surgery internship at Loyola University Medical Center in 1983 and a residency in Neurological Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in 1989. He was Visiting Chief Resident at UCSF Medical Center in 1987. Previous appointments include Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery, UCLA Medical Center as founding Director of the Clinical Brain Injury Program (1989-1994). As a native of Illinois, he returned to the Chicago area joining the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch (CINN) as Director of Neurological Surgery, Silver Cross Hospital Joliet, Illinois prior to settling at Edward Hospital in 1998 and joining Northwestern in 2013.
