“I switched to studying medicine at Çukurova University Medicine Faculty in 1993. From the first semester, I knew I wanted to specialize in surgery, specifically reconstructive microsurgery. I remember spending all my spare time in the operation rooms to improve my surgical skills.”
His dissertation – A Successful Neurotization of Two Different Muscles Using a Single Intact Motor Nerve – was published in the Annals of Plastic Surgery.
“The history of hair transplantation starts with the famous New York dermatologist Norman Orentreich, who discovered the principle in the 1950s. To know where we are and where we are going, we must know where we came from. Knowing why we are evolving, rather than simply focusing on the practicalities, allows us to better understand and improve what we do.”

About Ozan Balik, M.D.
Dr. Ozan Balik was born in Adana in 1975. After graduating from Adana Karşiyaka High School, he went on to study Electronic Engineering at Istanbul University before switching to study medicine at Çukurova University Medicine Faculty in 1993. Once qualified, Dr. Balik worked at Viranşehir State Hospital, and thereafter at Göztepe SSK (Social Insurance Authority) Hospital Anesthesia and Reanimation Services. In 2002 he decided to specialize in Plastic, Reconstructive and Esthetics Surgery at Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, earning his National Board Certification in 2008 before being appointed the Plastic Surgery Clinic Chief for Edirne State Hospital. In 2010 Dr. Balik quit to pursue a career in private practice and open his Bravo Hair Clinic in Istanbul. He is a member of the Amrikan Plastic Surgery Society, European Rhinoplasty Society, and Turkish Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Society.
